french alps Wedding Venues
French Alps is one of the best places to elope or host your wedding.
We are Katja & Simon, destination wedding photographers and guides. We travel all around Europe to capture beautiful wedding stories. And France, particularly the French Alps area, is one of our favourite parts of this world.
How to start planning your dream wedding in French Alps?
That being said, don't let just your brain do the decision-making. Most of the best decision we make in life are made with a gut-feeling and if you feel one place is perfect for you, go for it. Visit the place before you book (if you can) or ask for a video call, where they can show you around the venue.
In all these years, there is one thing we realised - when you start to plan your wedding, the first thing is to find your dream wedding venue. Finding a great venue is the base for all the details later on, so our advice would be to choose wisely.
Now before you start....
...think about your wishes first. Ok, getting married in France is one wish, but go a bit more into detail. To help you out, here are a few questions you can ask yourself now:
Does the venue have an indoor space in case it rains?
How easy is it to get to the venue?
Is there a restaurant on-site, or does the venue provide catering?
Are there any guesthouses nearby?
Will all guests be staying at the venue?
Will the guests need an organised transportation?
Are we getting married in a church?
Do we need the venue to be nearby?
Are we allowed to choose our own wedding planner and vendors?
So what's next?
If you've found wedding venue, or at least narrowed it down to a couple, it’s time to reach out. The most popular venues are booked solid up to 2 years in advance, so don’t wait too long.
If you already booked your venue and have your date set, the next thing to think about is, whether you'd like a wedding planner to help you organise your wedding.
Next on the list - Find a photographer you love!
Think about it... Your wedding photos are the only thing that is left for decades to come (beside your wedding rings). So choosing a great photographer should be your priority.
It doesn't matter if we are talking to our best friends or a strager - there are two things to consider when looking for your wedding photographer:
#1 - You must LOVE their work
#2 - Talking with them should feel like talking with an old friend. If there is no spark between you, go on and keep on looking.
