We are Katja & Simon, destination wedding & elopement photographers and guides.
We feel privileged that we are able to call this beautiful country our home. Slovenia is still new on the tourist map, however it's unspoiled nature, kind people, excellent food and wines will convince you, this is not just the next stop on your travel list, it might be THE place for your wedding adventure.
A quick intro to our green country
Slovenia is a scenic country with a fantastic location, right in the heart of Europe. It’s easily accessible from the neighbour countries: Italy, Austria and Croatia. Therefore planning your trip to Slovenia should be an easy task.
Although Slovenia is a really small country, it is very diverse and offers a lot of spectacular places, that would make a perfect backdrop for your wedding in Slovenia.
And the best part, Slovenia is a fairly new tourist destination, which means there are still beautiful places, that are still untact and where you won't meet a lot of tourists.
1. LAKE BLED
If you know about Slovenia, then you probably know about Lake Bled. Photos of this beautiful lake and the island with a church in the middle of it, is one of the most representative images of Slovenia. No need to say that this is also the nr. 1 tourist attraction here, so it’s often packed with tourists.
The lake is quite big, so you can still find some intimate spots along the way, but you do have to do some hiking. Besides the island itself (where you can get married in the Church of the Mother of God), there are numerous options where you can have your wedding. These are the most beautiful ones:
2. LAKE BOHINJ
One of our favourites, Lake Bohinj is about 20 km further into the Triglav National Park from Lake Bled. You’ll find less hotels and shops here, but that’s ok, because you’ll come here for the nature. It’s surrounded with the mountains and is a bit less crowded than Lake Bled.
You could host your guests at one of these beautiful alpine hotels: Sunrose7, Majerca or at private chalets Alpik, Triglav Apartments.
Lake Bohinj is the perfect base point for amazing hiking trails to Vogel, Chapel Uskovnica and if you are up for a real adventure, hike the Slovenian highest mountain Triglav.
3. VOGEL
The ski resort Vogel offers amazing views over the Alps and the highest peak in Slovenia - Triglav. It's a great location for adventure seekers and hiking lovers, so it's perfect for intimate weddings and elopements. Vogel is located just above Lake Bohinj and is easily reachable via a cable car.
4. VRSIC PASS & TRENTA VALLEY
Trenta valley, located in the heart of Triglav National Park, will take your breath away with amazing views over the mountain peaks, traditional architecture heritage with rustic houses build from wood and stone. Then there is Soča, a crystal clear river that is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe.
5. LJUBLJANA
Have you ever visited Ljubljana? This charming city is one of the best-kept secret in Europe.
Ljubljana offers a variety of different wedding venues, depending on the style and size of your wedding.
6. ŠTANJEL & KARST REGION
Štanjel is a tiny stone town located close to Italian border (about 20 min away). It’s mostly known for it’s tiny streets and the beautiful Ferrari Garden, where you can host your ceremony. Just two minutes of walking away, you will find the beautifully renovated Castle Štanjel, where you can host your reception and dinner party.

Just a 3 minute drive from Štanjel, you will find one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Slovenia and beyond. Villa Fabiani is one of the most beautiful places to get married! The recently renovated villa offers the perfect setting for the whole wedding – you can get ready in the beautiful suite in the main house, have your ceremony by the pond, and have a confetti exit under the garland of roses.
7. otočec castle
The Otočec Castle is one of our favourite castles in Slovenia. It sits on a small island right in the middle of the river Krka in Southeast part of Slovenia. You can access it via two wooden bridges, that connect the island to the river banks. The castle is a high-end boutique hotel and you can rent the entire place for your wedding.
